Friggin' With the Slits

from Constant Public Humiliation (Revisited) by The Scroll

about

The second song I did for the album. The melodies were taken from an old song I did back when I was a teenager. At first, I wanted the song to be heavy, organic and shoegaze-like, but i thought it wasn't good enough, so I put a dance beat and played slap bass over it. I let the song sit for a couple of days, but finally decided to take out the slap bass and add synths instead. Happy with the result, I wanted to see how far I could take the song, so I did the 'Underworld thing' and got progressive by adding instruments and solo parts while still keeping the song's base. Then, just to be a show off, I rerecorded the heavy shoegaze version of the song and tacked it at the end to give the song an original contrast. After I finished 'Friggin'', I knew I was ready to do a whole album. The lyrics are about sexual addiction and 'friggin' with the slits' is something I heard Tom Sizemore say on Celebrity Rehab which made me laugh.

lyrics

Friggin' with the slits
Sore tongue and wrists
too long
Spit on my lips
Open the many gifts
Thrown

I've got
A love addiction
