about

This was the last song I wrote for the album, but it's the first song sequence-wise. I needed a track that established the album's sound right from the start.Envy is the only progressive/long song on the album. (the last album had 3 or 4) Part 1, 'Play Things', starts out kinda of psychedelic and repetitive (influenced a little by The Velvet Underground), but slowly builds tension until the bass finally kicks in Part 2, revealing the song's real destination.'Play Things' is basically about how we have fun at different stages of life: When we're kids, 'having fun' was much different than the adult version of it.Part 2 (You Look Like a Clam Going Mad) lyrics are about the play/film The Local Stigmatic starring the great Al Pacino. Damnzel sings on the track.
